Ms. Murphy's Biography

Hello everyone! My name is Kate Murphy and I am very excited to be at St. Monica this year. I have spent the last six years of my life in Denver, Colorado. I attended and graduated from Regis University with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating from college, I stayed in Denver and taught first grade in the Jefferson County Independent School District. I decided to make the move from Denver to Dallas to be closer to my family.

Dallas is not a new city for me. I was born and raised in Dallas, and attended St. Rita through fifth grade. In sixth grade, my family moved to Calgary, Canada. I enjoyed three years in Canada before returning yet again to Texas. I attended and graduated from Plano West Senior High School in Plano, Texas. I was privileged enough to receive a soccer scholarship to attend Regis University.

I have recently “retired” from a 19 year soccer career that truly was a gift from God. Soccer kept me grounded, focused, motivated, and disciplined in every aspect of my life. It allowed me to travel the world, meet new people, and grow as an individual.

While I miss every aspect of the sport of soccer, teaching has been able to fill that void in my life. I love working with little children and watching them grow both academically and socially. I am so grateful to be at this amazing school, and I am even more grateful to be able to work with your son or daughter. Let’s make it a great year!
