Mrs. Miller's Biography I am so happy to be teaching First Grade this year at St. Monica's!! I have been with the Kindergarten program here for the last several years- and have now "graduated" to First Grade!!! Although, it is not my first time to teach at this grade level- I did so in Missouri a few years ago! I have been a parishoner at St. Monica for many years now and have lived in Dallas for most of my life. I was born in Anchorage, Alaska and moved quite a bit when I was younger due to the fact that my father was in the Air Force! However, Dallas became my home when I begun attending The Hockaday School in the 7th grade...I am a graduate of Hockaday and attended Northwestern University in Chicago where I hold a triple degree in Speech/Theater/ and Communications. I am now no longer a single mother! I was married on Christmas Eve of 2005 to a most wonderful man- Brett Miller! He must be a candidate for "sainthood" to have taken on a lady with 6 children!!! We are all very happy and have now moved into his home in Frisco and are in the process of making it "our home!" I have 6 children of my own- 3 of whom still attend St. Monica's! My oldest, Brittany, is 21 and is a recording artist living in Los Angeles and goes by her middle name of "Jade!!" Although - our newest bit of news is that "Jade" has just made it through the first round of American Idol auditions!! We are all SO proud of her, and are praying for more good news as the audition process continues for the next couple of months!! I will keep you all posted!! My second child, Blake, who is 18, is now a high school graduate, stands 6'3'', and is currently pursuing "culinary" studies- perhaps to run and own his own restaurant someday!!! Brianna- my third child- is 16 years old, has gotten her driver's licence and is a HUGE help to me in transporting all of my children to the many activities in which they are involved!! She was a cheerleader here at St. Monica's and now is a "trainer" for the football team at her high school in Frisco!! She has begun her search for colleges- and is a typical 16 year old, complete with many friends and a very full social life!! Brandon- my "athlete" who loves soccer, tennis, and ALL sports is 11 and is a very grown up 6th grader now! He is playing on a select soccer team- and LOVES every minute of it!! Barrett and Bryce are my identical twin boys- and they are in 3nd grade here at St. Monica's this year!! They love singing, choir, art, basketball and tennis!! I have been teaching and tutoring various grade levels most of my adult life- not only in the elementary setting, but as well have taught electives to middle schoolers and even was an assitant teacher at the college level in the theater department at Northwestern University. . I enjoy travel, cooking and baking, reading, shopping (of course!), music, ice skating, and anything remotely related to coffee or chocolate!!! I enjoy teaching very much- and I put my whole heart and soul into my class each and every day! I am blessed to be a part of this school and part of these childrens' lives!! My commitment to all my parents is that I will help your child grow academically, spiritually, and emotionally... I thank you for allowing me to introduce your precious little ones to the wonderful world of learning each and every day! We are going to have a super year here with "Mrs. Miller's Merry Minnows..." in our "ocean" of learning!! |
