Seventh and eighth graders participate in art as a chosen elective twice a week for forty-five minutes each quarter. This first quarter students are participating in 3-D clay design. Students are creating clay slabs, slab reliefs, pinch-pot constructions, coil-pot constructions, animal and abstract sculptures. Students will glaze, display and critique the art work later in the quarter.

Student art work will be displayed in the cafeteria hallway. Mrs. Saunders and I will take turns hanging up art work to view. I hope you have some time to see the displayed art work throughout the year.

Student art grades are based on a participation grade at this time. There are several on-going projects and final grades are not recorded until art work in completed. Student art conduct grades are based on the entire quarter due to limited time student are in class. Most students receive a "G" for conduct at progress report time. Students may receive an "E" for conduct on report cards as long as they are following the class rules: 1. Please enter room quietly. 2. Please respect teacher and students. 3. Please listen to instructions without talking. 4. Please work and clean up quietly. 5. Please leave room quietly.

We are having a great time in art and being very creative.
