Hello everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed the time off with your families during Spring Break and had a wonderful Easter celebration.

I'd like to congratulate our Volunteers of the Month winners, Julie Whipple and Christina Neuhoff, our 8th Grade Level Reps, who have done a great job all year long.  Julie recently spent many hours at school hand drawing every 8th grader's silhouette for graduation, and Christina has been hard at work on an exciting project for the 8th grade Casino Night Homeroom Memory project. Thank you, ladies, for all of your time and effort!

The PTO did not have too many activities in the month of March. However, I would like to acknowledge all those people who stepped up to help out with PSIA last week.  It went very smoothly and was another great opportunity for the St. Monica School community to shine.

I would like to thank:

Mary Sladek, our Parish/Family Coordinator, who brought the Environmental Education programs from the City of Dallas to the school last week, to the 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th & 8th grades.

All of the Grade Level Reps, who helped coordinate such fabulous new Homeroom Memory ideas for Casino Night, and to Shannon DeMetrovich for coordinating all of the grade projects.  The items displayed at the VIP Party last week were true works of art!

Thanks to Deedy Hamer, who has finished her PTO role for the year, but offered to help out with one of the subcommittees for the Silent Auction for Casino Night.

Elizabeth Vincent, our Special Programs Coordinator, for bringing numerous Enrichment programs to the school this past month:
     Preschool & 1st Grade – Butterflies Nature & Science
    2nd & 5th Grade – Weather Presentation

April activities involve so many people.  We appreciate all of your help and support.  Here’s all that we have scheduled for this month:

Tuesday, April 8th:  PTO Meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Library

* Come to this meeting to see what technology the PTO has brought to the classrooms this year.  We are pleased to have a demonstration by a few teachers of the new technology as well as discuss how some of this technology will be put to use in our new Science labs.

* We want to acknowledge all of our Grade Level Reps and Homeroom Parents at this meeting, so we hope you will try to join us.

* And, we will have committee displays to let anyone who might be interested in helping out next year learn a little more about them.

Please come enjoy some refreshments, see what the PTO has done for your children this year and don’t forget – you can help your child’s classroom win a pizza party, which will go to the homeroom with the most parent attendees!

Tuesday – Friday, April 8 – 11:

5th grade Field Trip to The Pines Catholic Camp

Friday, April 11th:

6th Grade Field Trip to Enterprise City
7th & 8th Grade Retreats

There are so many exciting events happening this month!  We are blessed to have such a wealth of volunteers to help make it happen.  Thank you for your support.  The month of May has just as many activities coming up.  Be sure to look for an email about our newest event, the Family Pizza/Bingo Night.

Over the next few weeks, we will begin the process of taking nominations for next year’s PTO Board, Grade Level Reps, and Committee Chairs.  If you are interested in any of these positions or would like to find out more information, I encourage you to come to next week’s meeting to talk with the Grade Level Rep or Committee Chair.  I would also be happy to answer any questions.  You can email us at pto@stmonicaschool.org

We hope you and your children have a great month!
