September 2007 PTO Newsletter

Greetings, everyone!

We hope that everyone has adjusted to being back in school and is off to a great start this year.  Your PTO has been busy these first few weeks of school getting everything set up to have a wonderful year with the children. 

There are several people who put in a lot of effort to help start this year off well for us all, who I’d like to thank: 

  • Maryann Barnett and Donna McKool for ordering our prepackaged school supplies and the St. Monica Boy Scouts who helped get them distributed to all of the classrooms; 
  • Fran Drone and Leslie Wood for putting on the Used Uniform Sale
  • Shannon DeMetrovich, Julie Clancy, their Grade Level Representatives and friends who helped set up the coffees the first three days of school;
  • Courtney Bristol, our Preschool Grade Level Rep, who worked with Shannon to set up two Welcome Back Coffees for the Preschool last week; 
  • Lisa Madden and Karen Brown, who have done such a great job stocking the Spirit Store with some wonderful new items, and who have coordinated the sales of the NEW PTO Calendar, also available at the Spirit Store.

Also, thanks to the special people who have volunteered their time to be Homeroom Parents for your children’s classrooms.  We really appreciate all of you!

This month we are beginning our new Speaker Series and would love to have you join us at both of our events planned for September.

  • Tuesday, September 11 – PTO Meeting & BYOL – Bring Your Own Lunch, and come join us to hear Judy Chapman, an Organizational Specialist, “Create Control Out of Chaos – Equipping Your Kids with Organizational Skills for Success in School.” 
    12:00 pm in the Upstairs Lounge of the Family Center.
     
  • Thursday, September 20 – Join us for an Evening Event with Kathleen Fischer, who will be speaking to us on “Gender Differences & How They Impact Learning & Parenting”.  Kathleen is a very engaging speaker who has put on some excellent seminars in the past at St. Monica.
    7:00 pm in the Downstairs Lounge of the Family Center.

The Autumnfest Committee, chaired by Kathy Dougherty and Tricia Tobolka, is working hard to get everything ready for this wonderful event on Saturday, October 27th.  Please look for the Autumnfest Guide, and an exciting new way to order your tickets and t-shirts before the end of the month.  We’ll finish out the month with Spirit Day on Friday, September 28th.  Please come join us for the Pep Rally and get in the St. Monica Spirit!
