October 11/12, 2007

THEME FOR NEXT WEEK:  Leaves

STUDENTS OF THE WEEK:

  • 4’s – Bill Rathburn
  • 3’s – Arianna Capone

WHAT WE'LL BE DOING NEXT WEEK:

We will talk about the change of seasons and what to look for.  We will collect, sort and paint leaves.  There will also be stories and poems on our leaf topic.  We will be doing some of the apple activities/projects that we didn’t do last week because it was a short week.

NEWS & NOTES

  • Please have your child bring in a small bag of leaves.

  • Parent/Teacher Conferences are
    • Thursday, October 25th for the parents of the 3’s and
    • Friday, October 26th for the parents of the 4’s.

There will be a schedule in the classroom and during carpool for you to sign up.  I will send a copy of the schedule home just before the conferences.

  • There will be school for the 3’s on Thursday, October 25th during conferences.  Mrs. Guilbeau and a substitute will take care of my class while I’m in conferences.

  • There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, October 26th for the 4’s (just conferences for parents).  All of St. Monica School is out.

All Saints Day Parade:
We will have an All Saints Day Parade on

  • Thursday,  November 1st for the 3’s
  • Friday,  November 2nd for the 4’s.

We will be talking about saints the whole week.  Please help your child choose a saint to dress up as for the parade.  It can be any saint—maybe your childs’ name if it’s a saint’s name.  I will send home some suggestions for a costume—the simpler the better.  Please come to the parade.

4’s ONLY:  Cranium Kids
A few days ago our kids were treated to a demonstration by Cranium Kids, a mobile technology program which offers computer training to our children.  Here are some highlights of what this program has to offer, if you should choose to enroll:

  • During the weekly 30-40 minute class, which offers a 6 to 1 student/teacher ratio, each child will have his/her own Dell laptop with mouse, headphones and software.
  • Classes will be held during Stay-n-Play time, so as not to interrupt any of our morning academic activities.
  • Instructors will have completed Safe Environment training, before the classes begin in late Oct. – Nov.

Please review the brochure and return it, if you are interested.

Thank You,

Mrs. Rebone
