FEBRUARY 2008

Dear Parents,

As we begin a new week, there are several events coming up about which you should know:

VALENTINE’S DAY

On Thursday, February 14th , we will have a Valentine’s Party at 10:30 in our classrooms.  Our room mothers are sending out appeals for help via e-mail, and we ask you to feel free to join us or to send treats for the children.  Of course, the kids will be exchanging Valentines, and we ask every child to send in 16 cards with your own child’s name—example:  “From Johnny”.

  DINOSAURS
We began our study of Dinosaurs last week, and we are asking you to send in any books or dinosaur items that you have to share.  Also, immediately send a shoe box to make a “Dino-Rama” (habitat) for dinosaurs.

 EARLY DISMISSAL
Friday, February 15, is an early dismissal day at 12:00 noon .  NO STAY-N-PLAY   There will be After School Care for the kids who normally stay.

  MASS
Tuesday (tomorrow) is our Mass Day.  Be here early and stay and help if you can.

 KINDERGARTEN TESTING
Most of the children who wish to come to St. Monica Kindergarten next year have already been taken from the classrooms to do their testing, and the remainder will be tested this week.  All of you should be hearing from the school by February 28.

  PHONICS
We need volunteers to help in our classrooms with our Phonics program.  A special sheet will be sent home on Friday about this.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
Looking back on Catholic Schools Week, it is with gratitude that we say thanks so much for everything, including the beautiful and fragrant bouquets of flowers and the wonderful lunches.  Thanks also to the moms who came to our classes to keep the children, while we enjoyed our Teachers’ Luncheon.
