JANUARY 2008 Dear Parents, As we enter a new year, here’s hoping that it’s not too late to say thanks for the many wonderful gifts before Christmas. All of us teachers and staff were able to gather for the Teachers Luncheon and enjoy good food and fellowship and a magnificent “Teachers Purse”. We are most grateful to the moms who stayed with the children during the luncheon and especially to all of you for your generosity. Thanks also for the time and effort put into prepping for the Christmas Play. Though we had a million other things to do, it was good to take out some time to honor the Lord with our little offering of a play and all of its imperfections. The children were adorable in their costumes and saying their lines, and we are appreciative for your help with these things. While Christmas vacation was wonderful, it was truly good to be back on Monday and to see the children. And my how they’ve grown - not only in stature, but also in maturity. They’re calmer, more confident, and looking more like Kindergartners every day.
Registration for Kindergarten in the ’08-’09 school year begins on Tuesday, Jan.22. On that date you may download the application and take it with fees and paperwork to the St. Monica School office. After submitting all of these, you will be assigned a test date for your child. For your convenience, Kindergarten testing of DK children usually takes place during a regular school day.
Assessments for report cards have been taking place this week, and the report cards will be sent home on Monday, Jan 14.
On Tuesday, January 15th, our DK children will attend Mass for the first time, and we need your help. Parents, please plan to have your child here by 7:45 a.m., so that we can walk over to the church at 7:50. If you come later than 8:00 a.m., you must walk with your child. Dads and moms, please join us. It’s a great way to start the day and to set a good example for your child. CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK is Sunday, January 27 – Friday, February 1.
