November 9, 2007

Dear Parents,

Whew!  That was the sound of a collective sigh of relief coming from us DK teachers after a week of picture taking, Halloween, Saints' Celebrations, and OpenHouse.  All of these activities made for a fun week, but we’re VERY happy to return to normal. You are sure to agree that our little saints were just adorable, and we owe a huge thanks to all of you parents for creating costumes and for helping us to have a great parade.
And now on to the next event -- November is moving quickly with only two more weeks until Thanksgiving.  YIKES!    Here is a list of upcoming activities:

THANKSGIVING FEAST

On Tuesday, Nov. 20, our DK classes will host their annual Thanksgiving Feast.  All friends and relatives are invited to join us in the classroom that day (around 11:00 a.m.) to share a wonderful “Friendship Stew” and lots of goodies prepared by the children.  (Please don’t confuse our Feast on Tuesday with the Grandparents Day for Kinder thru 8th grade on Wednesday, Nov. 21) Since our Friendship Stew and other delicious items will be made by the students, every child will be asked to bring a contribution for the Feast : Stand by for the list of ingredients and for your assignment.

EARLY DISMISSAL

On Wednesday, Nov. 21, SMS will have a 12:00 noon dismissal.  No Stay-n-Play that day, nor do we have school on Thursday and Friday.

NATIVE AMERICANS, PILGRIMS, FRIENDSHIP, & THANKFULNESS

These will be our themes for this coming week.  If you have any books, stories, or Indian artifacts to share, we will take good care of them.

*** PARKING LOT CONSTRUCTION
Beginning on Monday, Nov. 12, our parking lot and carpool area will be blocked off, because of some new concrete construction at the exit onto Midway.  Please pardon the inconvenience and use caution.
Thanks for all that you do.
