Dear Parents, As we finish the second week in October, here are a few reminders of upcoming events: - PICTURE DAY
For DK students the date is Tuesday, October 23rd. Envelopes for the picture money will be sent home next week. Wear uniforms please. - OFFICER WANDA
On Wednesday Oct. 24, our favorite police officer will do a presentation and a video about calling “911”. It should be fun! - PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
NO SCHOOL – On Friday, October 26th, St. Monica School will close for parent conferences. Next week Mrs.Arraj and Mrs. Seltzer will be sending home sign-up sheets so that you might schedule your conferences. We look forward to speaking to all parents about your precious children.

- AUTUMNFEST DRESSDOWN
On Thursday, October 25th, children may wear their Autumnfest t-shirts or fall color shirts with their navy blue uniform shorts, skorts, or pants. - AUTUMNFEST
We are so grateful for your very generous donations of toys, games art supplies, gift cards, money, etc. Today all of these wonderful “pre-school pastimes” will be transformed into a fabulous “basket” for the raffle. We owe a huge “thank you” to our room mothers, Mrs. Hearne and Mrs. Gibbons, and to our Grade Level Rep., Mrs. Bristol for coordinating all of this.
HALLOWEEN & ALL SAINTS DAY
Next week our theme will be “Letter Hh” and Halloween. Although we will have lots of Halloween activities within the classroom, we prefer to focus more on the real meaning of the holiday. As you probably know the term “Halloween” actually refers to an ancient pagan tradition that was based upon a Catholic tradition. “All Hallows Eve” was the night before “All Hallows” or "All Saints Day” in the Church. While most children understand the fun of Halloween, we also want them to learn about some important saints. On Friday, November 2, we will have a Saints Parade. Please help your child choose a favorite saint, and think about making a costume for that day. Next week we will send home some easy costume ideas.
CRANIUM KIDS A few days ago our DK kids were treated to a demonstration by Cranium Kids, a mobile technology program which offers computer training to our children. Here are some highlights of what this program has to offer, if you should choose to enroll: - During the weekly 30-40 minute class, which offers a 6-1 student-teacher ratio, each child will have his/her own Dell laptop with mouse, headphones and software.
- Classes will be held during Stay-n-Play time, so as not to interrupt any of our morning academic activities.
- Instructors will have completed Safe Environment training, before the classes begin in late October - November.
- Please review the brochure today, and return it if you are interested.
Have a great weekend and thanks for all that you do for us and the children. Sincerely, Mrs. Seltzer & Mrs. Arraj Ms. Haba, Ms. Bell & Mrs. Moreno
