St. Monica School Extended Day Program

The St. Monica School Extended Day Program provides a childcare program for children enrolled in St. Monica School grades K-4.  The program operates from dismissal until 6:00 p.m.  There is no before school care offered through the program.

Parents wishing to enroll their children are provided with a description of the program and an explanation of tuition fees and payment options.  All children are registered for a specific time and drop-in care is not available.  A completed registration form, which includes all emergency information, is required before a child may attend the program.  Children must be registered in the program as soon as accepted into St. Monica School to assure adequate staff when school begins.  A handbook outlining policies and updated yearly is given to each family.  Periodic newsletters and memos are made available to families through the family files kept at the sign-out table and e-mail.

The classes are limited to around 25 and the children are grouped by grade level with an adult in charge of each group.  The program secretary-receptionist supervises the leaving of children and monitors the entrance to the building at all times.  The director is on-site and available to staff, children and parents.

The program operates from the Family Center where each group has a homeroom. The daily schedule includes outside play, indoor free-play, quiet study time, homework help and a nutritious snack.  Yearly activities include a fall carnival, winter art show and spring talent show.

The staff of the program is led by director, Mrs. Mary Ann Trotzuk, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Creighton University, has supplemental college work in childcare administration from Brookhaven College and twenty years experience in after school programs.

Program staff is drawn from the St. Monica community and all complete criminal history checks and interviews.  Yearly evaluations are completed by the director. Ongoing guidance is provided during monthly staff meetings and individual conferences when the need arises.  Each year the program asks the parents to complete an evaluation and has always received expressions of appreciation for quality care.

The St. Monica School Extended Day Program receives ongoing support from the principal, the church, the PTO and the Dad’s Club. The director and staff consistently strive to provide the children and parents of St. Monica School with a nurturing and enriching after school experience.

Registration forms are available online, from the school office, and from the program office. Registration is through the Extended Day Program not the school office and is completed when a confirmation is received by the family. Registration date is the date the form and fees are received at the program office.

When a class is filled children will be placed on the waiting list in the order the registration form and fees are received in the program office.  Returning children and their siblings are registered first.  New children registering for full time care are then enrolled followed by new children enrolling on a part time basis.
