The Goals for the 10th Annual Gap Drive

1. 100% PARTICIPATION
   As a school for the community of St. Monica, success in the GAP drive can only be achieved if everyone in the community participates. We are asking all parents, teachers, administrators, and anyone else with a interest in St. Monica to participate.
2. $200,000 in PLEDGES
   The School Advisory Council, in unison with our Principal, Mrs. Dulac, did a great job controlling expenses last year and budgeting for the coming year. However, a great school needs our support in order to remain great. Please make a generous pledge to the school through this year’s GAP drive.
3. Complete the drive in 4 weeks
   So many wonderful events are on the calendar for this school year, and sports and extracurricular programs are always going on. Please make your pledge today so we can declare success and move on to other school priorities.

Benefits of the 10th Annual GAP Drive

• Enhancements to the Curriculum
  Our teachers strive to develop higher order thinking skills in their students and to move them beyond mastery of the core curriculum and into practical applications of the material. To do this, they need materials in addition to the standard text books. The school also continues to concentrate on the enhanced writing program and adding to our science labs.
• Retention of our Great Teachers
  Our teachers are so important in the life of our students. The success of the GAP drive is an important factor in our ability to increase teacher salaries each year and provide teachers aides in the classroom.
• Tuition Assistance to help deserving children attain a St. Monica education.
  St. Monica school promises to bring the benefits of the Catholic Faith and a parish school education to the children of our Catholic community. However, many deserving children come from families that simply cannot afford the full tuition. We must strive to make the St. Monica experience available to all the families of our community.

What is the GAP? As a parish school firmly committed to the promise of bringing a Catholic education to the children of our economically diverse parish, tuition cannot be raised enough to cover the full cost of each child’s education at St. Monica. St. Monica Catholic School has a $5.7 million budget for the 2008-2009 school year. Tuition and fees only cover 84% of these expenses, leaving a 16% GAP. This difference between tuition and actual costs is the gap of $989 per student. The GAP is filled by a subsidy from the parish, PTO, Scrip, Dads’ Club Casino, proceeds from the Endowment Trust fund, donations for tuition assistance, and this GAP Drive. How Can You Help? Everyone is asked to participate in closing the gap. We ask that everyone give what they can, and remember that no gift is too large or too small. Please make your pledge now. Payment by check may be mailed or dropped off at the school. Payment by credit card may be completed online. Pledges should be completed by June 2009 and may be paid on a monthly or quarterly basis if desired. The school accepts cash, checks, credit cards, or donation of securities. Gifts to the St. Monica Gap Drive are tax-deductible and qualify for Matching Gift Programs.
