Safe Environment Program

St. Monica Safe Environment Program
Administered by Shavana Lopez, Safe Environment Director

As Christian adults, we have a moral and legal responsibility and are entrusted by God with the spiritual, emotional and physical well being of minors and vulnerable adults as they participate in activities within or sponsored by St. Monica Catholic School.   It is our responsibility and commitment to provide an environment which is safe and nurturing.
In order to achieve the above, SMS has a Safe Environment Program that implements training, screening, background checks and other procedures that are designed to reduce the risk of sexual abuse of children and vulnerable adults. Please take the time to follow our process (new or renewing families) BEFORE you can volunteer.  At SMS every volunteer (playground, field trips, cafeteria, etc) has to have followed the process and are expected to display their Safe Environment badge when you are on campus.  This is not a quick process to be cleared.
If you have any questions or concerns,
please do not hesitate to call or email Shavana Lopez at 214.366.7144 or slopez@stmonicachurch.org

St. Monica Church and School both follow the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program. The program is designed to help protect the youth, elderly, and vulnerable adults of our parish as they participate in activities within our community. The process of protecting the vulnerable also serves to provide a layer of protection against the possibility of false accusations for those adults who are involved in our many ministries.
Thank you for all that you contribute to the various ministries at
St. Monica Church and School.

Effective August 1, 2010, the procedure for the Safe Environment program
