St. Monica Catholic School Spreads Good Cheer to Fight Hunger

This year, the St. Monica cheer team led by Coach Christine Elias, took home the trophy in the large-school category for collecting the most donations with a grand total of 1,002 jars of peanut butter and $7,326.87 in contributions. According to Spreading Good Cheer founder, Joyce Limber, over $20,000 was raised by all schools combined, which is enough to feed five families for an entire year. This is truly a victory for all!

Congratulations to John and Daisy Arnott, the PTO’s “Volunteers of the Month” for August!

This dynamic duo had an amazing Gap season this year, raising approximately $250,000.00 which is the second highest amount ever
raised. John served as President of the school board last year, is heavily involved with St. Monica Works and ran Pot of Gold for Dad’s Club. Daisy has served as PTO Treasurer, grade level representative, home room parent,
and currently serves a Girl Scout leader for one of our St. Monica troops.

ST. MONICA DI TEAM PLACES IN THE TOP 6 IN THE TX STATE TOURNAMENT

Members of the St. Monica Catholic School Destination Imagination team started out their summer with over 8,000 students at the University of Tennessee competing in the DI Global Finals competition.

The team, named The Power of 6, made up of Cross D, Amanda B, Omar G, Sophie A, and Ketan P, earned a place at Global Finals by placing FIRST in the Dallas Regional Tournament (the largest tournament in the state) AND THEN placing in the top 6 in the Texas State Tournament, (the largest state tournament in the nation).
